Exploring Arkansas and Mississippi

Driving in Eastern Arkansas, we enjoyed all the stunning scenery along with camping at Craighead Forest Park in Jonesboro. The walking trails around the lake had something I’d never seen before, excercise equipment stationed at intervals. We also explored the Crawley’s Ridge Nature Center and were able to visit with some family members that live nearby. The area was hit by a tornado last year and some of the damage can still be seen. Some of our Arkansas pictures are below.

In Mississippi, we camped near Flora at the Mississippi Petrified Forest. We visited the museum at the entrance of the petrified forest and saw their geological exhibits and the mammoth bones discovered near Flora, then walked a short trail that winds through this petrified forest. In Hattiesburg we camped at Paul Johnson State Park at a gorgeous spot in front of the beach at the lake and toured the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum.

We certainly have enjoyed the time we spent in Arkansas and Mississippi but tomorrow it’s on to Florida!
